Camila, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
My ability to take risks developed through a combination of life experiences, resilience, and a commitment to growth. Growing up in Chile, I learned the importance of resourcefulness and adaptability—values that have been foundational in my personal and professional life.
When I launched Sezhel Consulting a year ago, it was a major leap of faith. Starting a business is never without its challenges, and taking that step required me to embrace uncertainty while staying focused on the impact I wanted to create. The decision to build a consulting firm that helps businesses grow wasn’t just about risk-taking; it was about believing in my ability to turn my vision into reality.
In this past year, Sezhel Consulting has grown steadily, and every calculated risk—whether helping a client restructure their operations or exploring new services—has taught me the importance of trusting the process while staying flexible and strategic. Risk-taking isn’t about recklessness; it’s about weighing the possibilities, preparing for setbacks, and staying grounded in a sense of purpose. Seeing the growth and success of the businesses I’ve supported reinforces that taking risks with a clear strategy can lead to transformative results.

At Sezhel Consulting, we specialize in helping small and minority-owned businesses grow, thrive, and achieve long-term sustainability. Our focus is on empowering our clients through data-driven insights and actionable strategies that address their unique challenges. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of guiding numerous businesses in refining their operations, improving profitability, and staying ahead in an ever-changing market.
What excites me the most about our work is the transformation we see in our clients—helping them go from feeling overwhelmed to confident in their business strategies. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our support translate into measurable growth and lasting impact for entrepreneurs who are building their legacies.
As we look ahead to next year, we’re expanding our service offerings to include tailored Financial Services such as Financial Analysis, Business Appraisal, and Business Budgeting—helping business owners make informed decisions that enhance their bottom line. Our Compliance Services will include Entity Registration, Registered Agent Services, and Compliance Audits, ensuring that businesses remain protected and aligned with legal and regulatory requirements. Additionally, we’re thrilled to introduce Strategic Services like Market Research, Data Analysis, and Succession/Legacy Planning, offering our clients forward-thinking solutions that set them up for long-term success.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Resilience has been vital because entrepreneurship is full of challenges and uncertainties. There were moments when starting and growing Sezhel Consulting felt daunting, but staying grounded and determined allowed me to push forward, even when the path wasn’t always clear.
Strategic thinking has shaped the way I approach decisions, both for my business and for my clients. Having the ability to analyze situations, anticipate outcomes, and create actionable plans has been a key factor in achieving success and ensuring that we’re always moving with purpose.
Lastly, my commitment to continuous learning has kept me growing both personally and professionally. Whether it’s deepening my knowledge in analytics, refining my leadership skills, or staying up to date on business trends, I firmly believe that staying curious and adaptable is the cornerstone of any sustainable business journey.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice would be to start by embracing a growth mindset. Don’t be afraid of mistakes; they are often your best teacher. Build resilience by remembering your ‘why’ during tough moments—it’s what will keep you going. Develop your strategic thinking by staying focused on your goals and learning to break them into smaller, actionable steps. Lastly, commit to continuous improvement. Surround yourself with mentors, read widely, and take advantage of opportunities to learn from others in your field.

They are typically small to medium-sized business owners, often minority entrepreneurs, who are committed to growth but may need guidance in areas like financial management, compliance, or planning for the future.
What makes an ideal client stand out is their willingness to embrace data-driven strategies and invest in building a sustainable business. These clients are not afraid of change—they see the value in improving their systems, staying compliant, and planning strategically to achieve long-term success.
We particularly enjoy working with business owners who value collaboration and transparency. Whether they’re looking for support with financial analysis, compliance audits, or legacy planning, the best results come when clients are open to sharing their vision and are willing to implement practical, actionable strategies.
