Bold Journey Magazine: Meet Camila Hargett, MBA.

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Camila Hargett, MBA. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Camila, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline comes from a combination of my upbringing and life experiences. Growing up, my dad, who was in the military, instilled in me a strong sense of discipline from a young age. He taught me that discipline isn’t about how you feel in the moment—it’s about doing what must be done, no matter what. This principle has been a guiding force in my life.

I firmly believe that discipline means taking action, even when a task feels challenging or unappealing. This mindset drives me in everything I do, whether it’s managing the growth of my business, helping others achieve their goals, or pursuing my own aspirations. I’d rather face a task head-on and complete it than allow it to linger, knowing that consistent effort builds lasting success.

By staying disciplined and focused, I can honor the trust others place in me and exceed expectations, which is a core part of my mission and values.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, three key attributes have been the most influential: discipline, flexibility, and the ability to build strong relationships. These have guided me through challenges, shaped my approach to business, and contributed to the success of Sezhel Consulting.

1. DisciplineDiscipline is the backbone of my work ethic. To me, it means showing up and completing tasks no matter how I feel about them. It’s what ensures progress even when motivation wanes, and it has helped me stay consistent in achieving goals.Advice: Cultivate discipline by setting daily priorities and holding yourself accountable. Start with manageable goals and increase the difficulty as you grow. Over time, your ability to follow through will become second nature and drive long-term success.

2. FlexibilityMy path has been anything but linear, and the ability to adapt has been crucial. From shifting career plans to navigating unexpected growth in my business, flexibility allowed me to find solutions and seize opportunities I hadn’t planned for.Advice: Embrace change and view it as a chance to grow. Be willing to reassess your goals and adjust your methods. Flexibility doesn’t mean abandoning your vision—it means finding new ways to achieve it when obstacles arise.

3. Relationship-BuildingStrong connections with others have been a major driver of my success. Trust and collaboration often lead to opportunities that might not have otherwise come my way. Relationships have been at the heart of growing my business and supporting my community.Advice: Approach every interaction with authenticity and a willingness to help. Build relationships by listening, showing empathy, and being reliable. Remember, the quality of your connections often matters more than the quantity.

For those at the beginning of their journey, I encourage you to focus on self-reflection and growth. Understand what drives you, and don’t shy away from challenges—they often hold the greatest opportunities for learning. Seek advice from mentors and peers, and surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. Most importantly, approach your goals with patience and persistence, knowing that every step forward brings you closer to building something meaningful.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Bible has been a significant influence on my personal and professional growth, especially its teachings on business ethics, leadership, and stewardship. While often recognized for its spiritual guidance, it also provides profound insights into principles that drive success and sustainability in business.

Some teachings to highlight:The Importance of Integrity in BusinessProverbs 11:1 says, “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” This highlights the value of fairness and honesty in all dealings. For me, this means ensuring my clients receive transparent and ethical advice, building trust and credibility in the consulting services I offer. For example, in compliance audits, I prioritize accuracy and clarity, helping clients establish practices that align with both legal standards and ethical principles.Stewardship and Resource ManagementThe Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) illustrates the responsibility to wisely manage and grow the resources entrusted to us. This story serves as a reminder to treat every client’s business with care, focusing on strategies that maximize potential and create long-term value. For instance, when creating financial plans, I guide clients to allocate their budgets effectively, balancing opportunities for growth with sustainable practices.Servant LeadershipMark 10:45 teaches, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” This principle has shaped my approach to leadership. I aim to serve my clients by providing solutions that empower them to achieve their goals while maintaining a focus on their long-term success.Through operational services, I help entrepreneurs streamline processes and focus on their vision, knowing their business operations are well-structured.The Value of Planning and PreparationLuke 14:28 states, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” This verse underscores the importance of preparation and strategic thinking. I apply this wisdom by helping clients develop thorough, actionable plans that align with their goals and resources. For example, my strategic services include detailed market research and business plan development to ensure clients are equipped to navigate challenges and seize opportunities.Valuable Lessons for ProfessionalsThe Bible emphasizes that true success in business is not just about profit but also about integrity, service, and the legacy we leave. By applying these principles, businesses can achieve meaningful, sustainable growth while positively impacting their communities.

For those starting their professional journey, I recommend focusing on values that transcend immediate results. Prioritize ethical practices, manage resources responsibly, and approach leadership with a service mindset. When we work with purpose and uphold strong principles, we create businesses that inspire trust, deliver value, and make a lasting difference.
