Voyage Raleigh Magazine: Conversations with Camila Hargett

Berkeley Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Hargett

Hi Camila, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Childhood memory: “I grew up near the ocean in the north of Chile, and one of my most vivid memories is almost drowning as a child. I somehow ended up too deep in the water, exhausted from swimming and on the brink of giving up. While I can’t recall the exact details after that, I know it was a moment that marked my Life. It taught me about the fragility of Life and the importance of perseverance, something that has stayed with me throughout my Journey.”
Early Life: “Coming from a humble background, my family didn’t have much, but we always had enough, and we stuck together through thick and thin. This closeness instilled in me a deep gratitude and determination to work hard. I always felt different; my family ensured I knew it, too. I didn’t understand jokes as quickly as others, and sometimes I questioned my intelligence. But in college, I learned I had ADHD, which turned out to be my superpower. This realization inspired me to tutor children for free, helping them discover their unique learning styles so they could succeed.”
Career Aspirations: “For the longest time, I believed I was destined to be a dentist because I always knew I could be a great business owner, and I saw dentistry as my path. But during my shadowing experience, I quickly realized I couldn’t stand the smell associated with the profession. It may be okay for others, but it wasn’t for me. That’s why I decided to pursue an MBA instead, focusing on the business side of things, which felt like the right path all along.”
Entrepreneurial Journey: “When I started my business “Intel Consulting LLC” the biggest challenge was managing the rapid growth we experienced right from the beginning. I’ve never been afraid of failure because I knew that at least I tried. So, as a believer, I fully trusted that God was leading me into this new adventure. I often found myself saying, ‘Okay God, here we are; if you’re not coming with me into this, I don’t want it.’ That mindset has carried me through every challenge. Within a month of opening, we moved into an office space, and our clientele has continued to grow steadily each month.”
Missionary Work: “Before coming to the U.S., I had the privilege of serving as a missionary in several countries—Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and India. One of my most memorable experiences was with my interpreter and missionary partner, Komala, in India. I still remember her coming to help me like every day, but that particular day I noticed her shoes were so worn out that, without hesitation, I took off my shoes and gave them to her. We didn’t need to exchange words; that moment made us friends forever. When I returned to Chile, I made it a life goal to continue helping her. I worked as a waitress to support her, then I came to the U.S. on a J-1 visa, and after meeting the love of my life and marry him, my husband and I continued to support her until the day she got married. It was such a blessing to be able to do that, and I look forward to the day I can see her again.”
Family and Support: “When I met my spouse, I somehow knew he was the one for me. A month later, he proposed, and another month later, we got married. It’s been over 15 years since we tied the knot, and we haven’t regretted a second of it. My husband has been my biggest supporter and the most selfless person I know. I still remember the moment I told him I wanted to open a business—he didn’t even flinch. He just said, ‘Okay, great,’ with such confidence that I think he believed in it more than I did at that moment. He continues to be my rock, supporting me every step of the way, and he’s an incredible father to our two boys.”
Community Impact: “If you know me, it’s probably because I was everywhere! People used to joke about how I was always involved in something, whether it was volunteering or helping out in the community. Now that I’m running a business, I’ve slowed down to focus on being a good steward of what God has entrusted me with—this business and every project a client entrusts me with. There’s a time for everything, and I’m content with the experience I’ve gained and how it has built my capacity and mindfulness. Helping small businesses has been such an honor, especially since many of our clients are from minority communities and grew up with nothing like me but dreams. Our mission is to uplift communities and empower businesses through compassionate, faith-driven ethical practices. We strive to create a stable and thriving economy by supporting entrepreneurial dreams. Our goal is for every business we assist and every community we touch to flourish, building a brighter, more prosperous future.”
Conclusion: “I’m incredibly grateful for the Journey I’ve been on, and I look forward to what lies ahead. My story is one of perseverance, faith, and service, and I’m committed to continuing to build a legacy that enriches lives and nurtures hopes.”
